Weaver's, Lawrence, Kansas

Weaver's Department Store has been operating in Lawrence since 1857 and in its present building since 1929. The pneumatic tube system was introduced around 1935. it is an Airmatic system, manufactured by the Airmatic Systems Company, 441 Market Street, Saddle Brook, Rochelle Park, N.J. There are 12 stations located throughout the four floors with the cash office at the rear of the top floor.

The blower is located in the basement. It has a 5 HP motor.

Maker's plate on the blower. It was made by the Spencer Turbine Company of Hartford, Conn. who also made the blower for the famous organ in Wannamaker's store in Philadelphia. They are now located in Windsor Conn.

Incoming tubes at the cash office. The carriers are discharged into a sloping wooden trough.

The terminals are of varying designs and presumably ages. This is the station in the cosmetics department.
